About the Society

Welcome to the University of Worcester Mature Students Society.

The society was established in 2017 by mature students, and for mature students. We are a welcoming and relaxed group. We understand the challenges faced by mature students, particularly in juggling external commitments and pressures with studies. As such, there's no pressure to commit to anything - just come along to events whenever you can. We hope to offer a friendly space to meet fellow mature students who understand your pressures, to find support, and to socialise. The 'university experience' is what you make it. And it's for everyone, regardless of age!

Society Aims

To hold regular informal socials (coffee mornings e.g.).

To organise social events throughout the academic year geared towards a mature audience.

To establish a positive social networking presence, providing a forum for mature students to share ideas, experiences, concerns, and to meet other mature students.

To welcome and support any mature students who are new to the University.

To encourage and increase mature student participation in University events.

To support students with children by hosting child-friendly socials and providing a network for parents where they can find support.

To ensure mature students feel they are a valued part of the student body.

To make settling in to University easier by placing a focus on additional welcome events in the first semester.

To subsidise social events, where possible.
